Based out of Nairobi-Kenya, we provide end-to-end services to SMEs and corporates including fundraising, capital restructuring, business advisory and support, valuations, transaction advisory, structuring, commercial due diligence and post-investment support and monitoring.
We also work closely with institutional investors across the region to support corporate credit origination, due diligence and portfolio monitoring. Additionally, we support restructuring for stressed and distressed portfolios/companies across East Africa.

Dr. Frazer sits on the Advisory board of NISK Capital. She is also the CEO at 50 Ventures, LLC, a private investment company that seeks to elevate Africa’s global standing by investing in its governance, education, enterprise and stability. She is known worldwide as a policy leader and expert on African Affairs.
Dr. Frazer was the leading architect of U.S.-Africa policy for nearly a decade, serving as the U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs from 2005- 2009. She was Special Assistant to the U.S. President and Senior Director for African Affairs at the National Security Council until her swearing-in as the first woman U.S. Ambassador to South Africa in June 2004.
Dr. Frazer received her B.A. degree in Political Science and African and Afro-American Studies, M.A. degrees in International Policy Studies and International Development Education, and a Ph.D. in Political Science, all from Stanford University, CA.
Dr. Karangwa sits on the Advisory Board of NISK Capital. Dr. Karangwa spent over 20 years with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) before retiring in 2021, having served as IMF Resident Representative in Chad, Diibouti, Mauritania, and South Sudan. Prior to joining the IMF, Dr. Karangwa worked for over 6 years at the African Development Bank where he served as Principal Economist for several countries including Burkina Faso and Morocco, and held high- level positions in his home country Rwanda, including as Director General of Economic Policy in the Ministry of Planning and Economy.
Dr. Karangwa holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Business Administration from the National University of Rwanda and Master’s and Ph.D. Degrees in Economics from Laval University in Quebec, Canada, with specialization in macroeconomics, international economics and finance
Irene is the Managing Partner of NISK Capital. Previously, he was the Chief Investing Officer at Ngali Holdings, a Rwandan investment holding company with interests in energy, IT and healthcare sectors. He also worked for Centerview Partners, NY covering IT, Healthcare, Media and Retail, and for UBS, NY in equities sales and trading.
Irene holds a Master of Science in Finance from the University of St. Andrews, Scotland and a Bachelor of Science and Engineering in Operations Research and Financial Engineering from Princeton University, NJ.
Gary is a Partner at NISK Capital. Previously, over a 20-year career, Gary has held various senior positions at several London-based financial institutions including Deutsche Bank, Bankers Trust, NatWest Securities, IAF Securities, IAF Capital and Marshall Securities.
He has worked extensively on various projects in Sub- Saharan Africa, including leading the financial development and structuring of IT projects, solar projects and mini-hydro projects in Rwanda and Kenya. Gary is a qualified accountant (ICAEW) and qualified with Smith & Williamson
Sheila is currently a Partner at NISK Capital, responsible for originating and executing transactions across East Africa. She previously worked as an Advisor to the CEO of the Rwanda Development Board, focused on attracting foreign direct investment to Rwanda. Ms. Kyarisiima also previously worked for Goldman Sachs in NY within the Corporate Real Estate group in the investment banking division. Sheila is a current member of Kenya’s National Investment Council and sits on the Board of Mayfair-CIB Bank.
Sheila holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, an M.P.A in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Brown University in the US.
Shadrack is a Principal at NISK Capital. Previously, he was an Associate with Botho Emerging Markets Ltd, an Advisory and Consulting firm based in Nairobi, Kenya. He also worked with Britam Asset Managers, in Nairobi, Kenya, where he covered Telecoms, Media, Manufacturing, Financial Services, Energy and Hospitality sectors across Africa as well as managing portfolios for institutional and high net worth clients. Shadrack has also been a part-time lecturer, teaching finance for professional courses, at Strathmore University.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science (Hons) from the University of Nairobi, is pursuing his Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification, and is an affiliate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in the UK.
Mutahi is an Associate Diretor at NISK Capital. Prior to joining Nisk, Mutahi was a Senior Analyst at Britam Asset Managers (K) Ltd, a leading local asset manager. While there, Mutahi was in charge of the Energy, Cement, Telecommunication, Consumer, Banking and Manufacturing sectors as well as macroeconomic coverage for the region. He analyzed and reviewed fixed income opportunities and assisted in portfolio construction for balanced mandates.
He holds a Bachelor of Economics & Statistics degree from the University of Nairobi and is pursuing his CFA qualification.
Bonita is a Junior Associate at NISK Capital. Previously, she was a Financial Analyst at ABL Dunamis, where she prepared financial models, business plans, and feasibility studies for clients.
Bonita holds a Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Economics from Makerere University.
Gollo is currently a business development director at NISK Capital, responsible for origination and management of business opportunities in conjunction with the transactions team. Gollo began his career in investment banking at the Qatar National Bank (QNB) and later worked at the Commercial Bank of Qatar in the treasury and financial markets department. He later worked as a Credit Risk Analyst at Masraf Al Rayyan Bank Qatar and gained African experience working at Deloitte East Africa as an auditor.
Gollo graduated from the University of Hertfordshire in the UK with a Bachelors in Finance degree and is currently working on his ACCA and CFA certifications.
Joy is a Senior Analyst at NISK Capital. Before joining NISK Capital, Joy worked at I&M Burbidge Capital where she was involved in strategic reviews, mergers & acquisitions, capital raising mandates, valuations, and due diligence oversight.
Joy holds a Bachelor of Economics and Finance (First Class Honors) from Kenyatta University. She has passed the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) level I examination and is currently a CFA level 2 candidate..
As one of NISK’s support staff, Donald manages the firm’s invoices and payments, supports the firm in audit and compliance with the relevant authorities, and manages various administrative tasks.
Previously, he held accounting and management positions in various companies covering manufacturing, mining, petroleum and logistics industries in Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda.
As one of NISK’s support staff, Daphine takes care of office management. Previously, she worked for Bylne Consultants, a company specialized in book keeping and tax consultancy services, as “sales and marketing representative”.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Mount Kenya University.
